How to compare Cuba money transfer services properly

Four simple criteria so you don't just take the advertising at face value. Apply them to any service — including VeltroPay.

  • Actual total cost

Don't just look at the fee. Compare how much you send with how much your family receives. That difference includes the applied rate, the fee and, if applicable, the delivery cost.

  • Delivery times by type

Clásica or Tropical card: under 1 hour. Cash in Havana: under 24 hours, Monday to Sunday. Provinces: 4–7 working days. If a service promises much shorter times, ask them to confirm it before you pay.

  • Available payment methods

Bizum, SEPA and card can have different costs and timings depending on the amount and the provider. Review the breakdown and the estimated time before you confirm.

  • Support and traceability

Check that you have a direct channel (WhatsApp, email) for issues, and that your transfer's status is visible. Form-only support usually means longer response times.

Comparison FAQs

How do I compare the total cost when sending money to Cuba?

Look at three numbers: how much you send, how much your family member receives and which delivery type you choose. The difference between the first two includes the applied rate and the fee. Comparing only the fee can lead you to choose a service with a worse rate.

Is the cheapest service always the best choice?

Not always. If your family needs the money today and the cheapest service takes 4 days, the savings aren't worth it. Balance total cost, time and delivery type — MLC card, cash in Havana or cash in the provinces — based on real urgency.

Why do some services charge no fee?

When a service says 'no fees', the cost is usually built into the exchange rate applied. That's not misleading if the final rate is competitive, but it's worth comparing the amount your family receives with other services to see it clearly.
